COYOTE KISSES

WOW, before hearing these tracks I actually had no idea who this duo was… Now I feel ashamed even admitting that. Amongst the tracks released, there’s a remix to Gotye‘s (somewhat overplayed—albeit still damned good) “Somebody that I used to know” and an original, and wildly popular track, titled “Acid Wolfpack”

Big Gigantic releases a big gigantic new album
The Colorado-based duo Big Gigantic is certainly defining the Colorado music scene, supplementing other artists like Pretty Lights‘ sounds. Their new album Nocturnal, which dropped January 11th, isn’t just another dubstep, electro, drum & bass, or any EDM act for that matter. Their sound fuses together elements of dubstep, hip-hop, jam, and blends it together to make an incredibly emotional, moving, dance-able, and just altogether unique music.
I’m particularly anal about genre-izing all the music in my iTunes (since I have over 18,000 songs I need a system of categorization so I can find songs quickly) these guys were definitely hard to pinpoint since every song conjured sounds of different artists (I just carelessly threw them under the “electronic” label. In particular “Rise and Shine” sounded like a mash-up between an Eclectic Collective and Pendulum track, while others sounded like Nero was just jamming with Kenny G one summer night.
As if that wasn’t good enough, the album is up for grabs completely FREE on their website. Even listening to the first two tracks will get one completely hooked on the cocktail of sounds that Big Gigantic throws at the listener. I’m a relatively new fan of the duo but I’m definitely keeping them figuratively dog-eared at the top of my music collection for the upcoming year.
PS. Because of the apparent hip-hop influence in many of their tracks, expect an alt-rapper like XV or someone similar to provide some rhymes over their beats in the near future. I can almost guarantee that this will happen with 100% certainty.
