I’m a junior at UW-Madison majoring in human evolutionary biology, archaeology, and Latin American studies. My writing interests include marginalized communities and global and public health. In Madison, Wisconsin, a glaring achievement gap exists among high school students. While a recently proposed charter school would have attempted to close this gap, its failure demonstrates how "working within the system" often takes precedence over any unorthodox approaches.
