Who has two thumbs and an incessant IV drip of news? This girl. As a political science and journalism double-major at the University of Iowa, I am self-admittedly a news junkie and a person of vociferously staunch opinions thereof. And while the world is severely lacking in political pundits, I also pursue side interests in Model UN, terrible music, wandering around Iowa City, and sleep deprivation.

Kirsten Jacobsen One Nation, Underwhelmed August 16, 2011 Does our society breed a culture of unhappiness? Between our political sphere, heightened demand for “bigger, better, faster, stronger,” and economic woes, the American dream may be slowly becoming our own manufactured nightmare.
Kirsten Jacobsen Voices of our Generation: Dueling Plans and a Possible Compromise? July 28, 2011 Somewhere, there is a compromise to be reached that will perfectly appease House Republicans and Senate Democrats – but that agreement will not be made by Aug. 2. Until that fateful day, the most pertinent action Congress can take is to raise the debt ceiling, keeping American credit ratings in check, and work toward a long-term solution for our deeply indebted bullet wound.
Kirsten Jacobsen The Modern Internship June 20, 2011 According to statistics, 50 percent of graduating seniors in 2008 had held at least one internship during college. An internship is the sure-fire resume-fodder that most contemporary employers salivate over.
