Andrew Leon Hanna

Andrew Leon Hanna is a sophomore student studying Public Policy at Duke University. He is sophomore class president and a Robertson Scholar at Duke University. A first generation Egyptian-American, Andrew was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. During his senior year of high school at Stanton, Andrew created and implemented a peer mentoring program called IGNITE, which focuses on providing guidance and support to freshmen students as they transition to high school. At Duke, Andrew has used his position to work towards his passion of helping increase unity among the student body, providing improved services to students, and helping tackle high-risk drinking on campus. He is also passionate about global youth initiatives and international relations, and was selected as a US representative at the Global Youth Summit in London last year. Andrew's Christian faith and family have meant a lot to and are central to who he is today. He loves soccer (especially during the World Cup) and playing the guitar.
