Alex Urban

My name is Alex Urban and I am a first year Master's student at the University of Georgia majoring in Public Relations. I have always been interested and fascinated with journalism as well as public relations. I was involved with my school paper at Clemson, The Tiger News, for all four years of undergraduate studies; for three years I covered sports and the last year I was elected to be the opinions section editor. I am an avid golfer and sports fan, and I am also heavily interested in music and play a wide variety of instruments. My hometown is Columbus, Ohio and I have moved many times in my life.

Alex Urban NEW Bubba Watson — The Artist of Augusta April 9, 2012 Bubba Watson is not exactly what you'd call a traditional golfer. Yesterday at the Masters, the man who has never had a professional golf lesson taught us that you need more than swing mechanics to play good golf.
Alex Urban NEW Majorly Good Golf Before the Masters February 22, 2012 Between Jeremy Lin, college basketball, the end of football season and the NHL trade deadline and playoff race looming, it is easy to forget that the PGA Tour season started almost two months ago.
Alex Urban Breaking News at the Speed of Twitter January 24, 2012 Since the widespread adoption of social media, news has been spread at a rate never seen before. Alex Urban The Lost Generation? Give Me A Break. September 29, 2011 To say that our generation is doomed to become "lost" because of a simple economic recession should be taken as a personal insult to every young American. How a generation responds to adversity is how it is defined.
Alex Urban Why Jeb Bush’s Advice to Republicans is Wrong August 25, 2011 Jeb Bush isn't correct in saying that it is necessary to do anything more than just attack a candidate to win. Barack Obama already proved him wrong in the 2008 election.
Alex Urban D.J. Gregory teaches us how to see the bright side June 30, 2011 As I walked the fairways of Harbour Town with a couple buddies from Clemson at a PGA Tour event earlier this year, I noticed something that made me double-take. I saw D.J. Gregory, a man born with cerebral palsy and featured on ESPN’s E60 a few years ago, trudging down the fairway towards us with purpose. I smiled.
The Founding Fathers Got it Right June 14, 2011 America is on its path, and no president is going to change that path to a strong degree. Presidents are just people; they can't magically repair an economy that has trillions of working parts, and they definitely aren't responsible when it prospers.
Alex Urban Of Course We Can Celebrate Bin Laden’s Death May 4, 2011 Bin Laden's death doesn't mean the end of the War on Terror, but it does bring justice and closure to the man who started this mess. The families and friends of those lost in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania now can say the man responsible for their suffering can't live comfortably and can't hurt anyone else in his twisted life. To me, that is a cause for celebration.
