It's a developing nation by definition. Grow up, it's not an insult, merely the reality. A country with weak property rights, shaky security, and above average returns is by definition a developing nation. I agree that the "3rd world nation" label should be eliminated since it only exists through tradition and has no real meaning, but Brazil is by no way an industrialized nation.

With income per capita at a 3rd of the US and most western countries, Brazil like most of Latin America is not a developed country. I admire the "courage" and the good intentions of equalizing Latin America, but but their own fault they still are backward.

Btw, don't get the wrong idea, Brazil is the shit. It may be underdeveloped and unsafe is certain areas, but the people are great and Rio is an amazing city. I am truly excited for the olympics and world cup. But let it be noted, facts are facts.

Ummm... I think any Brazilian would be greatly insulted by being called a "developing nation" Brazil is not 3rd world. True, some of it is, and geographicaly most of it is. But the extreme majority of its people live in cities and have computers, cars, cell phones, and running water. They are surrounded by enemies, and internaly have problems, but are more then a developing nation.
