Michael Vick's Mug Shot

Michael Vick, the Atlanta Falcons’ first overall draft pick in 2001, was released from federal custody on July 20, 2009 after he completed most of a 23 month prison term for unlawful interstate dog fighting.  Vick was released by the Falcons in June, mostly because the Falcons could not find any willing trade partners. Recently, Vick met with NFL Commisoner Roger Goodell and was granted conditional reinstatement. Vick  created a “life-management” plan that includes information on living arrangements and work with the Humane Society. These guidelines are in addition to his parole terms, which prohibit him from owning a dog (among other restrictions).

Tony Dungy, the former Colts head coach, has assumed the role of mentor in helping Vick get back on track. By week six of the NFL season, Commissioner Goodell will make a decision regarding Vick’s eligibility to play. No team has yet signed Vick and many wonder if any team will take a risk on a man who has been out of football for over 2 years. So let’s hear your thoughts:

Should Michael Vick be given a second chance to play in the NFL after his heinous crimes? If you were an NFL General Manager, would you take a risk on signing Vick? Would you want him to play for your favorite NFL team?
